Streamline your Social Media Content Planning with Trello

Streamline your social media content using Trello

Are you struggling to keep track of your social media posts? Do you often forget to post or post inconsistently? If so, it may be time to start using a social media content calendar. Trello is a good place to start for creating one.

Trello is a project management tool that allows you to create boards, lists, and cards to organise your tasks. I have tried a few project management tools and have found Trello to be easy and simple to use for organising your social media content.

Here are some ways you could use Trello as a social media content calendar:

Create a board

You can create a board for your social media content and add lists for each platform (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Or you can create lists for each month (January to December) and plan the content for the month.

Create cards

Within each list, you can create cards for each social media post. You can include the post text, images or videos, hashtags, links, and any other relevant information in the card description. I have found this much easier than using documents or spreadsheets.

Use labels

Trello allows you to add colour-coded labels to each card. You can use labels to categorise your posts by topic, status or platform. This will help you quickly identify posts based on their category. I include to-do, scheduled and posted to my labels so I can easily see at a glance where I am at.

Assign due dates

You can assign due dates to each card to ensure that your posts are published on time. Trello has a calendar view that shows all the cards with due dates in a calendar format. I create a card and put the date and time as the title which I find easier.

Use checklists

You can create a checklist within each card to ensure that all the actions for creating a post have been included and completed. For example, you can create a checklist for a social media post that includes tasks such as writing the post, creating a graphic and scheduling the post. This is also handy to have if you are working with a VA or team member and you each have tasks to complete.

Trello is a great way to help you stay organised and ensure that you are posting consistently. You can easily see refer to the board and previous lists to help repurpose and reuse content to make your social media management more efficient.

Using Trello as a social media content calendar is an effective way to stay organised and consistent with your social media planning.
