As a small business owner, staying organised and productive is essential for growth and success. Managing various tasks and projects can be overwhelming, especially with everyday personal tasks. I was introduced to Trello not long after becoming a small business owner, and I have found it extremely useful in keeping track of tasks. It may just be helpful for you too!
What is Trello?
Trello is a free project management tool set up as a board system, which means it is a great visual way to see your projects, tasks, and goals. The boards are easy to set up and customise with lists, cards, and checklists, which means you can easily see the progress of each project all in one place.
Trello also works well with team members and clients, as you can add them to relevant boards, assign tasks, add due dates, and add comments and updates, ensuring everyone is on the same page and aware of the current status of a task or project.
Getting Started With Trello
Trello is free to set up, and you can create different boards for your projects and business. Having different boards makes it easier to stay focused and track tasks and projects.
Within each board, you can create lists, naming them however you wish. For example, you may have a Task Board that could have Ideas, To Do, In Progress, and Completed as the list titles.
You can then add individual cards to represent a task with detailed descriptions, due dates, attachments, and checklists, and even assign it to someone as their task to take action on.
Boost Productivity with Trello
With the drag-and-drop facility, you can easily prioritise tasks by moving them to different lists or even boards. You can add labels to make it visually easier to see the priority, so you can focus on the top-priority tasks first.
Setting due dates and reminders is a great way to keep track of important tasks and the action that is needed to ensure they are completed on time.
Additional Trello Tips
Trello has several Power-Ups that you can activate to assist your daily business tasks, from time tracking, and automating to syncing with other apps and tools that you may use in running your business.
Labels and tags are a helpful visual way to categorise and prioritise your tasks on Trello by using colours and adding a title.
There are many project management tools available, and it is worth trying some to see what works best for you. I have tried a few and always come back to Trello. Spend time thinking about your systems and processes, and start using Trello to streamline your business systems and keep track of your tasks and goals.
