Instagram highlights are Instagram stories that you have chosen to keep on your profile, saved into folders. Instagram stories disappear after 24 hours; however, if you add a story to your highlights, it will remain on your profile permanently or until you remove it.
You can create as many Instagram highlights as you want, and each highlight can have up to 100 stories or videos.
How to create an Instagram Highlight
- Click on the story that you want to add as a highlight
- Click on the Highlight button at the bottom of the screen
- In the Add to Highlights pop-up, click on Add New
- Enter the name of the Highlight and click Add, then Done
You can edit Highlights, change the name, or add a Highlight cover. A highlight cover is a nice way to keep your highlights looking tidy and on-brand while using your business colours.

How to update an Instagram Highlight cover
- Click on the Instagram story highlight
- Click on the 3 dots at the bottom of the screen
- Select Edit Highlight
- Click on Edit Cover and click on the image icon
- This will take you to the photo gallery on your phone, where you can select the image
- Click on the arrow at the top of the screen and then click Done
