Do you wish you were more organised?
Running a business, having a family, having a job – there are so many factors in everyday life that can affect our work-life balance.
Here are some top tips for getting organised and staying in control
Have a planner
Whether it is online or a physical paper planner, a planner is a great way to plan and organise your day.
Working with an online planner enables you to sync information across your devices. The information will be easy to access and at your fingertips.
There are many planners available and I’m sure you are seeing lots of posts for 2021 planners. I love the Marketing Planner from Claire Mitchell, The Girls Mean Business. I have just ordered my planner for 2021 and is the 5th year of having the planner. It is fab A5 size and whilst it is not a diary, there are plenty of ways you can use it to plan and keep on track.
You may find that it takes a couple of planners to find one that suits you, but you can never have enough stationery, right?
Unsubscribe from emails
I was inundated with click to remain on my newsletter list emails in the months leading up to GDPR. I don’t know about you but since GDPR came into effect, I have noticed a reduction in newsletter emails. Happy days!
I’m sure I’m not along in signing up for a lot of freebies in the past. I would often unsubscribe if the freebie was not what I thought it was going to be. I would also unsubscribe if I would receive umpteen emails in a short space of time from a company. That really puts me off.
Start thinking about what you sign up for and if the email is not of interest, unsubscribe and then delete.
Reduce inbox emails
If you can achieve inbox zero, then great but if you can’t, don’t beat yourself up. I’m not too keen on the term inbox zero but don’t think keeping every single email is productive either.
Find a system that works for you using folders and filters and try to reduce the number of emails you keep.
Before you switch off at the end of the day, go through your inbox and either action, file, delete or unsubscribe emails. A great way to end the day feeling organised.
I am a stickler for keeping things neat and tidy on my desk. Everything has a place and I like to have a nice, clear workspace. Put things away either when you have finished using them or at the end of the day. It’s a nice feeling to start a new day with a nice tidy desk.
Hopefully these tips will help you get organised and feel more in control.
